Psychology is a scientific field based on the 'study of the mind'.

Psychology was not a formal discipline until the 19th century (1879), and is widely credited to Wilhelm Wundt at the University of Leipzig in Germany. Wundt introduced the scientific process to the field of psychology and established the first scholarly journal on psychology. His research was geared towards the study of the mind, where he developed the first laboratory dedicated solely to the study of the field.
