Sociology is a dynamic field that studies all areas of social elements, such as social life, social change, and human behavior. Sociologists base their research on understanding how groups, societies, and organizations are structured, and how people based within those contexts interact.

Sociology investigates issues and phenomena on both, a micro and macro level. For instance, sociologists attempt to understand issues ranging from intimate family interactions to revolutions overthrowing governments on a national level to how cultures interact on a global scale. What is interesting regarding sociology is that its research framework is based squarely on empirical research through tools such as observations, interviews, ethnography, survey research, and statistical analysis. Hence, it makes strong use of theoretical and scientific methodologies in its research paradigms.
